ABC’s been pulling together some really nice sets for three of its veteran shows. Castle: The Complete Fourth Season, Private Practice: The Complete Fifth Season and Grey’s Anatomy: The Complete Eighth Season are all hitting DVD in September in complete season sets that will feature crime fighting or disease fighting, as well as some flirting in the workplace.
Grey’s Anatomy featured some pretty crazy moments at the end of Season 8 and I was really hoping the cast member removal would be addressed with the set. While we don’t get any wise words from creator Shonda Rhimes or the departing actors, there are several bonus features with the disc.

Private Practice didn’t have any totally crazy twists at the end of its fifth season, but fans did deal with a new doctor and even an illegitimate child. Because Season 5 featured more children than the norm, a special featurette called “Parenthood” will be included with the set to discuss how the actors fared when filming with youngsters.

Which brings us to Castle. The crime dramedy’s fourth season led to a less womanizing and more mature Castle, and also brought the crime writer and his detective partner a little closer to solving her mother's murder. I have a little bit of a fanboy love for this show, and as it turns out, other fans may also—at least from the look of the set, which will be chock full of bonus features from audio commentaries to a segment highlighting the season's stunts.

Grey’s Anatomy will street on September 4, followed by Castle and Private Practice, which will hit DVD on September 11.
