Hollywood Treasures Preview: Syfy's Movie-Themed Reality Series

Tomorrow night Syfy will premiere a new series that centers on the hunt for Hollywood’s lost treasures. Check out the trailer and Syfy's description for this new, film-themed reality series.

Hollywood Treasure follows Joe Maddalena as he attempts to track down famous movie props. Is this a science fiction or fantasy series? The description below mentions that some of the props and costumes are from scifi and fantasy movies, however based on the trailer, the general theme of the series seems to be focused on movies and film-history in general.

Hollywood Treasure is a weekly reality series that delves into the intricate world of showbiz and pop culture memorabilia collecting, including science fiction and fantasy props and costumes. The series follows Joe Maddalena, owner of Profiles in History and the world's largest auctioneer of original movie, television and pop culture collectibles. You won’t want to miss this brand new series as your favorite Hollywood Treasures are featured from the classics of Tinsel Town.Maddalena will stop at nothing to get his most coveted items from the silver screen. He has even put up a $10,000 reward for the one that helps him find the ruby red slippers from the Wizard of Oz that were stolen from the Judy Garland Museum. Other prized possessions include the Wilson volleyball from Cast Away, the bat-mobile, and the hat worn by the Wicked Witch of the West.

Personally, I don't care that this series doesn't look like it falls strictly into either the scifi or fantasy genre. As someone who appreciates film history and interesting reality shows Hollywood Treasures looks like it could be a lot of fun.

Hollywood Treasures premieres Wednesday, October 27th at 10/9c on Syfy.
