Jackpot: Fifty Out Of Work Beauty Queens

The ‘Miss America Pageant’ is a lot like Pat Boone. Fifty years ago, he was on top of the world; thirty years ago, somewhat important; ten years ago, a slight blip on the cultural meteorology map; and now, less relevant than a Grover Cleveland product endorsement. Could you even pick Miss America out of a lineup? Maybe if she had on a name tag, her sash, and a come hither look.

According to Zap2It.com ‘Miss America’ has taken one more step towards complete and total obscurity. ‘Country Music Television’ has announced its intentions to drop the beauty pageant. What could possibly be worse than being dropped by ‘CMT?’ I guess they had to make room for more episodes of ‘Trick My Truck.’

‘Miss America’ executives will continue to look for a new home. Maybe they’ll end up on ‘TV Guide Channel’ with Joan Rivers.
