He delivers laughs regularly on his ABC late night talk show, his episode clips have a tendency to go viral (especially when they involve parents video taping their kids disappointed reactions), and he made a splash with his post-Oscars episode, so who better to host the Emmy awards this year than Jimmy Kimmel?

Deadline posted the news, stating that Kimmel is will take the stage to host this year’s Emmy awards, which is being produced by Bryan Grazer. The awards show, which celebrates (some of) the best TV has to offer each year, is set to air on September 23. As the site notes, Kimmel is no stranger to hosting awards shows, having emceed the American Music Awards and the Espy awards, however, this will be his first time hosting the Emmy’s.

Given how funny he is, Kimmel’s certainly a great choice to handle the event. He follows Jane Lynch, Jimmy Fallon, and Neil Patrick Harris among the recent line of hosts. The last time ABC aired the event, they experimented with a five-host set-up, which fell flat as reality show host nominees Tom Bergeron, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, Jeff Probst and Ryan Seacrest shared the responsibilities. It looks like the network may be making up for that with Kimmel.
