Lifetime is putting together a sequel to its anthology series Five, which told five tales related to breast cancer in 2011. Like Five, the sequel, Five 2 (just deal with the strangeness of that title), will tell a few short stories about women. However, instead of focusing on breast cancer issues, Five 2 will focus on mental illnesses.

Like Five, Jennifer Aniston (along with Marta Kauffman, Kristin Hahn, Kevin Chioy, and Francesca Silvestri) will executive produce Five 2, and a multitude of talent has been brought on board to star in and direct the series. Melissa Leo and Octavia Spencer have both joined the cast, and today THR has learned Dreamgirls’ Jennifer Hudson and Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland will both act in Lifetime’s TV movie, although there is currently no word on what sort of character each actress will play.

Those familiar with the series are probably aware that a different female in the industry directed each of the five stories in Lifetime’s breast cancer movie. This time around, the same directing format will occur, with new talent involved. So far, Bonnie Hunt and Laura Dern have joined the crew in order to direct two of Five 2’s storylines.

If you aren’t familiar with the series, don’t worry. Five barely made a mark in the ratings when it aired in 2011, so many of Lifetime’s fans probably aren’t even aware it existed. However, the TV movie fared better critically, and its sequel may be one to keep an eye on in the coming months.
