NBC Crashes Weddings

Most people wouldn’t use their wedding as a chance to punk their friends. Then again, if reality TV has taught us anything its that some people aren’t “most people.” Premiering next month, from the creators of the soon-to-be canceled MTV series ‘Punk’d’ is another show involving unsuspecting people getting pranked. In the new NBC series, titled ‘The Real Wedding Crashers,’ the victims of the pranks aren’t celebrities, but guests at weddings.

According to Reuters.com ‘The Real Wedding Crashers’ will involve brides and grooms playing pranks on their guests during their own weddings. The examples listed were things like the Justice of the Peace answering their cell phone as the couple is taking their vows or having U.S. marshals swoop in to arrest a fugitive.

People looking to add a little something different to their special day get to conspire with the wedding crashers to find the perfect joke to play on their guests. Says executive producer, Jason Goldberg, "The bride and groom put together, with our wedding crashers, a night that they'll remember for the rest of their lives."

You might be wondering just how the show was able to find enough people willing to let a major network make a joke out of their wedding. Goldberg said about 25,000 couples responded to their online bulletins and wedding publications. Only in America… (although I’m willing to bet there are plenty of people in the U.K. who’d also get on board with something like that).
