OWN has been keeping fairly quiet ever since the network put into effect a restructuring plan that left 30 of its employees without a position, and left Oprah afterward proclaiming the institution of the cable network may have been a mistake. Nonetheless, the struggling network keeps pressing forward, hoping for a break that will give them the ratings they so desperately seek. This summer, while much of TV programming is on hiatus might give OWN a little more of a chance to succeed.

At least that seems to be what Oprah’s network is hoping. OWN announced today the network will be unveiling six new summer shows that will hopefully spice up the content. According to Deadline, the six new series, Lives on Fire, Million Dollar Neighborhood, Real Life: The Musical, Lovetown, USA, Are You Normal, America?, and Super Saver Showdown. The new shows will join Oprah’s staple Sunday night show, Oprah’s Next Chapter, as well as the second season of Out America with Lisa Ling. We’ve got some of the summer premiere dates, below.
OWN Summer Weekend Lineup

9:00-10:00 p.m. – LIVES ON FIRE

9:00-10:00 p.m. – MILLION DOLLAR NEIGHBORHOOD (June 9)
10:00-11:00 p.m. – REAL LIFE: THE MUSICAL (June 9)

While Are You Normal, America? is expected to play on Monday nights in the warm summer months, the show will get an initial airing on June 3 after a new episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter. Poor Lisa Ling will be stuck competing for the True Blood audience during her show’s new season premiere, unfortunately. TV Blend will keep you posted on how that battle for an audience turns out.
