Office Director To Helm FX Pilot Wilfred

There are some television directors who would probably kill for Randall Einhorn’s resume. The cinematographer turned director has helmed episodes of The Office, Parks and Recreation, Modern Family and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia to name just a few. Simply put, those are four of the funniest shows on television right now. (Oh and he just snagged his first feature film, Late Bloomer, a few weeks ago). Now he’ll have a chance to get behind the camera for his first television pilot. Deadline is reporting Einhorn is set to take the reins for FX’s Wilfred in the U.S. adaptation of the Australian comedy.

Wilfred is a live-action comedy about a dog Wilfred (played by Jason Gann, the show’s creator who’s also attached to the US version), his owner Sarah and her boyfriend Adam. While Wilfred is Sarah’s pet, Adam sees the dog as a human in a canine costume. Wilfred is a crude, insecure and manipulative little pup.

Like The Office’s U.S. adaptation, Wilfred comes with a body of work already put together and Einhorn will be tasked with keeping the spirit of the show alive while melding it for an American audience. Judging by FX’s recent hilarious track record and Einhorn’s resume, Wilfred has the chance to be a very funny production.
