Hallmark has been busy over the last several months rolling out upcoming Christmas movie updates. We had Christmas in July hitting the Hallmark schedule, of course, and we've known a new season of Mistletoe Murders would be coming down the pipeline for a while. It’s true, too, that Lacey Chabert’s Disney World-set Holiday Ever After: A Disney World Wish Come True is already generating momentum months before its release, and CinemaBlend’s own Megan Benke is pumped Tyler Hynes has landed a winter flick. I honestly wasn’t sure myself if anything would top all of these updates, but I was very wrong.
In fact, I’ve learned my favorite Hallmark Christmas movie (I have lots of favorites but I mean it when I say this is the one) is getting a sequel. Yes, I’m talking about a follow-up to A Biltmore Christmas, the outstanding flick starring Bethany Joy Lenz and Kristoffer Polaha. The new movie was announced by the cabler this week and will be called A Grand Biltmore Christmas. See what they did there?
The new film will also be set at the Biltmore and will feature its hourglass twist, but things will be a little different this time around. This namely includes the cast, who will include newcomers Andie McDowell, Holland Roden, and Niall Matter, plus a return actor in Jonathan Frakes.
The latter coming back is very interesting, and what makes this more of a sequel than a sister film. A Biltmore Christmas left us with some questions about who knew about the time travel and how it works, and I’m hoping the new movie gives us a bit more backstory into the caretakers of the Biltmore and the hourglass. We’ll have to wait and see, but I’m also hoping for a fun cameo or two from some of the characters who might make sense for the timeline.
The new film will revisit the present and past timelines, but this time there’s a different twist. Elizabeth, who will be an adult in 1915 for part of the film will actually travel to the present to spend a 21st Century Christmas with Michael. Even better? We’ve already gotten the first look.
The Biltmore is beautiful whilst decorated for the holidays, and getting a chance to see that onscreen in different time periods is always enchanting by itself. But A Biltmore Christmas was also a really beautifully scripted and memorable TV movie, with real chemistry between its two leads. I really hope the sequel brings that same cozy Christmas feeling. We won’t have too much longer to wait to find out. The movie will hit the 2026 TV schedule on Saturday, December 5th.
