Pungent Odor To Emanate From Earl

In 1981, John Waters decided that his previous films just weren’t filthy enough. So in an unprecedented move, he devised “Odorama”, a scratch 'n sniff system in which viewers could literally smell whatever the characters inhaled. It was like an olfactory lottery. Sometimes you would win with pleasant aromas like pizza and flowers; other times you’d get punished with vile pungencies like old shoe and rotting flesh. There’s just something inherently exciting about etching away at a little card hoping to breathe in the alluring scent of cinnamon but knowing deep down that you’re about to be overwhelmed with a strange concoction of B.O. and burnt eggs.

There’s really been a dearth of sensory shenanigans lately, so today’s news makes me more than a little bit jovial. Variety is reporting that ‘My Name Is Earl’ executives will place scratch n sniff cards in upcoming issues of ‘TV Guide’ to accompany a future episode. Viewers will then be able to whiff along with Randy (Ethan Suplee) and Joy (Jamie Pressly). The May 3rd super sized, sweeps edition will feature Earl (Jason Lee) applying for and working at his first actual job. Righting your past wrongs may give you some sweet warm and fuzzies, but sadly, those special feelings don’t come with monetary compensation.

We here at TV Blend love ‘My Name Is Earl’, and we strongly suggest that you check this episode out. Expect the humor to be slightly sophisticated low-brow, the acting to be spot-on, and at least, two or three odorous farts from Randy.
