Ricky Gervais may be the biggest comedian in Britain but Karl Pilkington has certainly become quite the celebrity in his own right. And deservedly so since the man is a bonafide genius. Perhaps not in the traditional sense of the word but nobody sees the world as Karl does, and to hear him describe it to you is a thing of beauty. Lucky for us, we don't have to wait much longer since the trio of Pilkington, Gervais and Stephen Merchant are coming back in animated form to share more of his words of wisdom on HBO's The Ricky Gervais Show. The show returns for its third season in just over a month's time and here are the first few previews to tide (or win) us over.
Except for the first which functions as a nice intro of sorts, the rest of the spots waste little time getting to the Pilkingtonisms by showcasing some of the star's new anecdotes. The best part of the series might be the fact that you can jump right in without having to catch up on the previous two seasons. It will be just as funny and won't take long to learn all the recurring segments like 'Monkey News' or 'Karl's Diary' but I certainly advise that you do check out the 20 existing episodes of the animated comedy as well as the series of podcasts on which the show is based.
If you love Karl from An Idiot Abroad, you'll love The Ricky Gervais Show because it's basically just his unfiltered ramblings on the microphone. Well, I shouldn't say completely unfiltered since his co-hosts do their best to moderate and keep the man on track as much as possible. And they don't mind putting him in his place either. I cannot wait to hear Ricky explode with laughter and/or tell Karl he's talking shit. The third season of The Ricky Gervais Show premieres on Friday, April 20 at 9:00 p.m. ET on HBO. It stars Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and the Karl Pilkington.
