The Simpsons Goes Downton Abbey With Simpton Abbey Gag

Downton Abbey may be between seasons right now, but out of sight definitely doesn't mean out of mind. Earlier today we shared Sean Combs' Funny or Die video, and this Sunday night, the series will be acknowledged in the double-episode season finale of The Simpsons. First, we have the video above, which Fox shared today and gives us a look at Downton Abbey's opening credits, Simpsons-style. Simpton Abbey! Looks like Homer had some trouble with that old-fashioned razor.
The first part of Sunday night's finale, "The Saga of Carl," will have Homer, Moe, Lenny and Carl winning the Springfield lottery. Then Carl takes off with the loot, which prompts Homer, Moe and Lenny to set off to Iceland to track Carl down. That likely explains the sweaters here…
And the second part is where Downton comes in, and may be where the above video will appear, assuming it's the finale's couch gag. Speaking of couch gags, the finale will reveal the winner of the opening credit "couch gag" contest.
The second part of the finale, "Dangers on a Train" will have Marge wandering onto an Ashley Madison-type website for married people seeking liaisons. Of course, Marge thought it was a Dolly-Madison website about cupcakes. An honest mistake. But it puts her in the path of a man named Ben, who happens to share Marge's appreciation for a Downton Abbey-like series called Upton Rectory.
Ben just so happens to be voiced by none other than Seth MacFarlane. Here's a look at MacFarlane's Simpsons character as he serenades Marge…
The Simpsons Season finale will air Sunday, May 19 at 8:00 p.m. ET on Fox.
