New Spartacus: War Of The Damned Video Focuses On The Strategy Of War
Yesterday, Starz made the official announcement for the premiere date of the final season of Spartacus, and today comes a new look at Spartacus: War of the Damned, which shows us what Spartacus and his men are up against as they tear through Rome. Blood, swords and yelling ahead!
Some vague War of the Damned spoilers to follow....
Spartacus: War of the Damned takes place after the defeat of Roman commander Gaius Claudius Glaber, who met his demise at the end of Vengeance when Spartacus taught him how to swallow a sword. As for what's ahead, after winning the Battle of Vesuvius, Spartacus' legend is bigger than ever, and so is his arm of rebellion slaves, which has amassed to more than 30,000 people. This hasn't escaped Rome's notice. This season will introduce Marcus Crassus (Simon Merrells), who's faced with the task of defeating Spartacus. And from what series creator Steven DeKnight and star Liam McIntyre have to say, it sounds like Crassus will pose some serious opposition.
In the past, we've seen Spartacus' opposition react with emotion and predictable tactics that have allowed Spartacus and his men to outmaneuver their opponents, but from what's been said in the above video - including Spartacus' comment: "Crassus does not move as the others we have faced. He adopts our strategies in effort to twist them against us." - it sounds like Crassus knows a thing or two about strategy and the tables could be turned this season. As DeKnight put it, no one comes out unscathed in this battle. Given the bloodbath that was last season's finale, I think we should probably brace ourselves for more devastation as January approaches.
Spartacus: War of the Damned premieres Friday, January 25, 2013 at 9pm ET/PT on Starz.
