Summer TV Preview: Flash Gordon Premieres This Week On Sci-Fi

Flash Gordon has been around for decades. Between the comic strip, the movies (animated and live action) and TV series, anyone born in the 20th century is probably heard of the character. So while the Sci-Fi Channel isn’t the first to bring the sci fi superhero to the small screen, they’re definitely the latest. The new Sci-Fi series, ‘Flash Gordon’ will premiere this week.

The Scifi channel was successful in re-imagining ‘Battlestar Galactica.’ Let’s see if they’ll have the same success with ‘Flash Gordon.’ The description on the Sci-Fi Channel’s website says they’ve given a 21st century spin to the old science fiction character. In the new series, Flash, Dale and Dr. Hans Zarkov will once again become Earth’s last defense against the evil dictator, Ming.

Eric Johnson will play the title role with Gina Holden playing Dale and Jody Racicot playing Dr. Hans Zarkov. John Ralston is set to play Ming.

Flash Gordon will premiere on the Sci-Fi Channel on Friday, August 10th at 9:00 p.m.
