Fans of Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Breckin Meyer will be pleased to hear this news. The verdict is in for Frankin & Bash and it looks as though TNT sentenced the legal drama for a second season. Considering the show ranks as one of basic cable’s top new summer series (this according to TNT’s announcement), I suppose this news was to be expected.

Franklin & Bash stars Gosselaar (Saved by the Bell) and Meyer (Clueless, Road Trip) as two young, impulsive attorneys who find themselves employed by an upscale law firm. Their bold tactics for practicing law clash with the more conservative law firm at which they’re employed. The cast also includes Malcolm McDowell, Dana Davis, Kumail Nanjiami, Reed Diamond and Garcelle Beauvais.

The series has been averaging 1.8 million adults 18-49 and adults 25-54, and it earns time-shift boost of “well over 50%” among key adult demos. While TV really has no shortage of legal dramas and quirky lawyers, this one isn’t exactly groundbreaking in terms of the premise, but it is certainly entertaining and worthy enough to be kept around. TNT gave it a 10-episode order for Season 2, which we can expect to see roll out next summer.

“This summer, Franklin & Bash has broken out as a hugely entertaining series with great characters, sharp writing and a terrific cast,” said Michael Wright, executive vice president, head of programming, for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies. “We’re thrilled that the show has drawn such a remarkably strong following and look forward to bringing it back next summer.”

Franklin & Bash airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. (ET/PT) on TNT.
