TNT Picks up Bochco’s Bar

After 40-some years in the business, Steven Bochco is still going strong. TNT has picked up Bochco’s drama pilot Raising the Bar to series, ordering 10 episodes. Bochco is executive producing the series.

The legal drama, which stars Jane Kaczmarek, Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Gloria Reuben, revolves around young lawyers who’ve been friends since law school but now work on opposing sides.

Bochco's son, director Jesse Bochco, helmed the pilot for Bar, which was written by lawyer-writer David Feige, author of the 2006 book, “Indefensible.”

"Raising the Bar is the sort of smart, highly charged legal drama for which Steven Bochco is known and an ideal fit for our line-up," says TNT content executive Michael Wright. “Steven and the exceptional cast and crew he's assembled have put together an excellent drama, and we're proud to add another talent-rich, entertaining series to the TNT schedule."

Other pilots that got the TNT greenlight include Leverage, Truth in Advertising and Family Man, all of which remain in the running for series pickup.

Bochco has been in the entertainment since 1964, the year he wrote a TV movie called A Slow Fade to Black. His hits over the years include Hill Street Blues, Doogie Howser, M.D., and NYPD Blue.
