EA will announce Battlefield 4 later this month at a special press event. Today the first image from the game was released, reaffirming that the game will take place in the present day.
The image shows a soldier and various armored vehicles advancing through a city. It utilizes the same color scheme as Battlefield 3's logo. The city in the background is blurred so it's tough to tell where in the world this scene takes place.
"We still want to stay in this genre, the modern day as it is," DICE's Karl Magnus Troedsson said last summer. "We feel this is a place we can be and continue with the series. Battlefield 4 can live in this space and be very successful."
Battlefield 4 could just directly continue the story of Battlefield 3. The campaign ended with a couple loose ends. However, they could really take the plot in a number of new directions.
EA will announce BF4 on March 26th. The beta will launch this fall, with guaranteed access for Medal of Honor: Warfighter pre-order customers. The full game will presumably arrive this fall as well.
