Devil May Cry Japanese Trailer Shows Off Some Sexy New Gameplay
The upcoming reboot of the Devil May Cry franchise has a lot of fans and gamers arguing over Dante's new look, but one thing seems to have stayed the same: the gameplay. Ninja Theory's design craft is showcased in a sexy new trailer that features some smooth-as-butter combo transitions, parry moves and a boss fight.
Ninja Theory has a rather rocky release history, with some games doing okay (i.e., Heavenly Sword) and other games bombing worse than a B-29 Superfortress taking a dump over a German munitions factory (i.e., Enslaved: Odyssey to the West). The fact that Ninja Theory is now in charge of Devil May Cry, it's left a lot of gamers wondering how the reboot will turn out, apart from a more emo-oriented Dante.
Nevertheless, the new trailer doesn't try to push for any kind of ridiculous marketing schemes or use shock value to promote the content, it's just a straight-through gameplay trailer featuring some fun-looking platforming segments and some sharp-as-a-samurai's-sword gameplay. You can check it out below.
I'm holding out any judgments on the game until I can see some more of it, but so far it looks pretty good. Will it be worth the $60 entry price? Well, that's a whole other story altogether. For now, it looks like Devil May Cry is coming together decently enough and it will make its January, 2013 launch date for the Xbox 360 and PS3. A PC rendition is scheduled to release sometime in the latter half of 2013.
