Today is the North American release date for Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening, a full expansion pack for their medieval fantasy RPG. BioWare has sent out a launch trailer to commemorate the occasion.

Awakening takes place after the events of Origins. The player (using his imported character from Origins or an all-new one) travels to Amaranthine to investigate a new darkspawn threat. The high-level adventure adds new items, abilities, NPC companions, and monsters. The trailer gives us a look at one unannounced baddy.

You can purchase Awakening on disc or digitally. Either way, it'll cost you $40. Advance copies of the boxed version apparently contained a teaser for Dragon Age 2.
