Gran Turismo 5 is almost a year old but Polyphony Digital wants to make sure it's the preferred PS3 racer for this holiday season as well. They made several announcements today that might bring joy to newcomers and vets alike.
For starters, Polyphony is planning a free update. It's said to be the biggest patch for the game yet. It introduces interior views for all of the cars in the game. It also reduces loading time and makes the menus more responsive.
"The coming Gran Turismo 5 Spec 2 update is an update that contains the feedback from the users playing GT5 online every day. We have added cars such as the newest NASCAR race cars, but many of the updates are those that improve usability and expand the field of game play," said Kazunori Yamauchi, president of Polyphony Digital. "I believed from the initial release of Gran Turismo 5 that it would be the users that would make the game grow thereafter, and we added things like interior views for the standard models because there was a lot of request for it from our users."
"You could say that this update is the shape and form of GT5 that was created through the opinions of our fans."
Polyphony says that new DLC is on the way as well. Vehicles, tracks, and "some additional surprises" are included in the DLC. More details will be released soon.
If you've yet to pick up the game, note that it's cheaper than ever now. As of this week, the price has been knocked down to $39.99.
