Haze Gets Another Release DateAuthor: Tim Beringer

Haze is starting to seem a little bit like Duke Nukem Forever lite. At least we know they really are making this. Now we have yet another confirmed release date – well actually it’s more of a timeframe.
Originally plotted out for an Early 2007 release on Playstation 3, PC and Xbox 360, Haze developer Free Radical has been forced to amend the release several times. Obviously, it didn’t even make the December 2007 release that was predicted. Since then the project has not only been delayed, but has been shuffled to being a PS3 timed exclusive. Or at least it seems that it will be a timed exclusive since Ubisoft has only been willing to say that the development process for the 360 and PC releases of the game have been indefinitely stalled. Free Radical is grateful to Ubisoft for the extra time they needed to develop the game and feel that now is the time to announce that it will be ready and on shelves by May. Developers have never given any concrete reason for the delays. There have just been a lot vagaries about format shifts and concentration on other titles. For the amount of time that has been put into development on this game, there are a lot of concerns that come to mind. The question of if this game will be worth the wait comes forth. To be worth all of the trouble that has gone into development and all the delays that keeping people waiting, another mediocre shooter will be nothing short of a waste. The seemingly PS3 exclusive release could be another flame to fan. If this does turn out to be worth the wait, there will be similar belly aching from fans of other systems that have to wait as other timed exclusives have been met with in the past. All of this might be moot because we’ve heard promises of a release date for Haze for quite some time now just to be disappointed. I for one don’t want to sit around in my prom dress waiting for a date that is not going to show up. |
