There's been a long-rumored misconception circling the crowded circles of Nintendo fandom: Mass Effect 3 will run at 1080p. That misconception was finally shot in the head, cut up into pieces and buried across vast landscape of Hyrule. Straight Right's CEO Tom Crago has admitted that Mass Effect 3 will only run at 720p for the Wii U.
According to the Official Nintendo Magazine, Crago made the simple comment as a way to dispel rumors that the Wii U's version would be the best looking out of the three consoles or push the visual fidelity forward in the home console arena. In celebration of dampening hopes of a more powerful console version of Mass Effect 3, Straight Right and EA released a new “Take Back Earth” trailer for the Wii U, which you can view below. The game will still have exclusive weapons and comics. So the full retail price might be worth it if you like infinitesimal things like comics and weapons to justify a full retail purchase...again. Mass Effect 3 was mired in a lot of negative gamer feedback earlier this year for its piss poor endings, which cued a war between gaming journalists protecting publishers and consumers fighting to maintain a measure of integrity with the gaming industry. It will be interesting to see what will happen with the game launching on the Wii U, whenever the Wii U decides to launch.
