The differences between the Xbox 360 game Ninja Gaiden 2 and its PS3 remake Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 are bound to be heavily scrutinized. One interesting discrepancy between the two versions has already become apparent: Sigma 2's a lot less gory.
Games Radar highlighted the difference in the below video. In the PS3 version, there's noticeably less blood sprayed by slain foes. In addition, beheading a foe results in a spray of blue energy rather than a red geyser.
"Each game has its own concept and with Ninja Gaiden 2, the focus was on extreme violence," Gaiden director/producer Yosuke Hayashi told GR. "But with Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, we really questioned whether violence is a necessity for a game, so we decided to move away from that trend. So the violence 'approach' is not the way we approached the development of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. Being able to unlock higher levels of gore would be out of kilter with the concept of the game."
As long as the game's not been completely kiddy-proofed - and it hasn't been - I can't imagine many people honestly complaining. Could be some token griping about the principle of censorship, though.
