FarSight Studios’ The Pinball Arcade is about to get a heck of a lot spookier with four new monster-fueled tables announced as DLC for August.
Those familiar with FarSight know about the studio’s dedication to preserving pinball history by accurately recreating some of the highest ranked tables in the world. Their virtual offerings are built to replicate the real tables to the smallest detail, with realistic ball physics making The Pinball Arcade a must for PS3/Vita-owning pinheads everywhere.
According to a posting by Lead Designer Bobby King on the PlayStation Blog, The Pinball Arcade is ready to expand in August with two more DLC packs featuring two new tables apiece.
“All four tables are historically significant and are treasured by pinball enthusiasts for their exquisite craftsmanship and cutting-edge mechanical design,” King said.
First up is DLC Pack 3, featuring Monster Bash and Gorgar. Monster Bash has players trying to unite six Universal monsters to form the creepiest band this side of Transylvania. Gorgar, on the other hand, hails from 1979 and has the honor of being the first “talking” pinball machine ever.
Later in the month, DLC Pack 4 will introduce players to The Creature from the Black Lagoon and Black Knight. The Creature table mixes bits and pieces from the classic horror film with the experience of taking your honey to a drive-in movie. Black Knight, on the other hand, introduced the first ever split-level playfield, allowing the game to continue on a higher plane with a well-placed shot.
Exact release dates have not yet been determined, but King says that both DLC packs are due to hit the PlayStation Network in August for $4.99 a pop.
