Star Wars Battlefront Deluxe Edition Unlocks In-Game Items

There are a number of items included in the Deluxe Edition of Star Wars: Battlefront, the upcoming multiplayer shooter from DICE and Electronic Arts. The details are all laid out on the Amazon store page, where it's revealed that certain weapons and goodies are made available in the Deluxe Edition of the game.

The Amazon page reveals what you get in the $69.99 edition of the game, which includes the DL-44 blaster that Han Solo used throughout the Star Wars trilogy. They don't specify if the blaster will be limited to a specific class or if it will be interchangeable with any character that the player chooses. In previous Star Wars: Battlefront games the weapons were locked to a character class and each class had their own specific weapon loadout. So I'm curious if the DL-44 blaster will be playable across Empire and Rebel forces or just the Rebel forces or specific characters?

Additionally, the Deluxe Edition will also unlock the Ion Grenade, an explosive device designed to stick to vehicles and cause extra damage to them. Again, no indication as to whether this will be associated with a character class or just a general unlock. In the older Star Wars: Battlefront titles players could unlock the Ion or Concussion Grenades for all character classes across both factions. So it might be the same thing here with the upcoming Battlefront from DICE.

The Ion Torpedo Launcher is another weapon unlocked by the Deluxe Edition of the game, this is a weapon designed to lock onto and track vehicular targets, causing them massive damage. In Star Wars: Battlefront 2 there were specific areas of the vehicles that had to be targeted in order to do special damage to them. If you attempted to hit them in areas that weren't their weak points then it would just result in subtracting a small piece of their health.

There are also two novelty items included in the pack, an Ion Shock emote that lets you express yourself with “shocking” results as well as a special air-fist pump victory emote. I don't remember emotes being in the previous games so this is definitely something new that DICE has included in the game. Although, I don't know if these emotes are specific victory or lose condition items or if you can emote at any point during a match.

The Ion Shock emote is supposedly exclusively available for those who purchase the Deluxe Edition of the game.

Apart from the five in-game items that come with the Deluxe Edition of Star Wars: Battlefront for the PS4, Xbox One or PC, there is also a special Amazon bonus offer available only to those who pre-order the game from the online retailer: you can access the Battle of Jakku with two additional maps an entire week before everyone else. Yes, you can pay extra money just to play on two extra maps a week ahead of everyone else.

Anyway, Star Wars: Battlefront is due to drop on November 17th, 2015 later this year for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Expect to see more of the game at this year's E3 next week.
