Namco Bandai’s revisit to the PS2 RPG, Tales of the Abyss for the Nintendo 3DS is aimed at offering mobile gamers the grand adventure that was so popular on Sony’s home console. Prepping for a 2012 release, Namco released a huge batch of new screenshots for some of the characters in the game.

The hook of the game lies in its active real-time battle system, allowing players to move about and give commands on the fly using the updated “Flex Range Linear Motion Battle System”. It’s a little unfortunate we don’t get this kind of evolution in other (J)RPGs within the genre, but maybe that might all change with Tales of Grace F for the Sony PlayStation 3.

It’s hard to get a real feel for the graphics of the game given how small the screenshots are, but so far it looks pretty good to be on the 3DS. You can check out the new screenshots for Tales of the Abyss below or head on over to the Official Website to learn more about the game.
