BioWare, once a predominantly PC developer, has expanded to a number of other platforms over the years. They've yet to release a Wii game, but that's not because they're disinterested in Nintendo's console.
"The interface design on the Wii is very different from the other platforms, and that's really an opportunity because you can actually tell different kinds of stories and convey a different type of narrative," BioWare CEO Ray Muzyka told IndustryGamers. "We'd be intrigued by the idea of developing on Wii but we have nothing to announce right now,"Muzyka said when pressed on the issue. However, he then added that their long-term goal is "to broaden our base and continue to differentiate and have diversity of choice on different platforms" so don't be completely shocked if they end up making a Wii project. BioWare's on a bit of an experimental streak lately. Last year, they released Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood for the DS. They're also creating a Mass Effect game for the iPhone entitled Mass Effect: Jacob's Story. Additionally, they've stated there's a possibility that PC MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic could be released for consoles. |
