Virtual pinball fans rocking Nintendo's Wii U had better keep their flipper fingers nice and limber, because Zen Studios has just announced the impending release of Zen Pinball 2, heading to the console with all new Wii U features later this month.

If you read that first paragraph and thought about hoisting your middle finger high in the air, perhaps Zen Pinball 2 is not for you. If, however, it got you itching for some creative arcade pinball tables and the majestic dance of the silver ball, then it looks like you only have a few weeks, tops, to hold out for one of the best virtual arcades to ever hit the pinball scene.

Zen's tables are completely original, meaning you won't find Shaman or Tesla holding down the corner in any real bar. While pinball purists may be turned off by such an idea, those who enjoy creative, engaging tables with a bit of silliness that could never happen in the real world will be delighted by what Zen Pinball 2 has to offer. Their tables' physics are solid, the rules are creative and all of that added stuff makes for a fun couch experience.

Zen Pinball 2 will be made available on the Nintendo eShop sometime this month, including a free trial of each of its tables. Along with the tables shown off in the above trailer, players will also be able to get their hands on the Plants vs. Zombies table, as well as the massive collection of tables from the Marvel Pinball series like Wolvering, The Fantastic Four and Civil War.

Wii U players will be able to control the plunger with the game pad touch screen, as well as rotate camera views, check out information from the table's dot matrix display and control the camera during Free View, when you really want to get to know the ins and outs of each table. These unique features will be complemented by Zen's standard set of frills, including multiplayer and online modes, social featues like Challenges and Pro Score, awards for each table and more.

Zen Pinball 2 will be free to download on the Nintendo eShop later this month. After you take each table for a test run, you'll be able to purchase it (usually around $3) to add to your collection.
