ThatGameCompany, not to be confused with TheGamesCompany, recently released PS3 exclusive, Journey, has been receiving a lot of praise and kicking up tons of debates over the artistic integrity within the gaming industry. What's more is that Journey isn't just fast-becoming critics' top choice as one of the best games of the year, its soundtrack, scored by Austin Wintory, has been topping the iTunes charts the world around, too.

For those who don't know, Journey is a game about um, stuff. You travel. You kind of fly around. You collect ancient symbols. Mostly you, well, journey to the top of a mountain. That's about the extent of it. Anyways, it's not the concept of the game that's so amazing but rather its execution...and the execution of Journey is flat-out phenomenal. Wintory's soundtrack also adds an extra layer of both immersion and depth to a very complex game that has such a simple premise.

According to GameElitist, they confirm via ThatGameCompany's Facebook page that the original soundtrack has blasted onto the top charts in Japan, Spain, Canada and more than a dozen other countries.

If you haven't played Journey yet it's definitely a game worth delving into if you're looking for an artistically fuelled gameplay experience or something completely different and original from many other big name titles out there. Even if you don't have a PS3, the soundtrack is still worth a listen. You can pick up Austin's original score for Journey right now off the iTunes store.
