Thanks in large part to half-assed designs and manufacturing, toys can often be an unreliable way to get a first look at movie characters. This idea, however, is typically only relegated to human characters. When dealing with robots, and robots based on a series of toys, no less, we can rely on them to be fairly accurate. Hence why this is probably our first real look at the new Megatron from next summer's Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

JoBlo has been sent some photos from a scooper that claims that the new toy is from the upcoming Michael Bay action flick, which will arrive on July 1. When disguised as a vehicle, he appears to be some sort of arctic tanker truck, but when transformed looks a bit worse for wear, particularly in the facial region. The character was not one of those that made an appearance in the teaser trailer that dropped earlier this month, but as the marketing ramps up, I'm sure we'll get to see the character in his true form soon enough.
