It’s hard to watch the first trailer for Adam, without thinking of Forest Gump. Aware of the similarities, the trailer addresses it in a joking manner. Maybe not a good move, since anyone who hadn’t thought of the parallels up till then will from that point forward think of nothing else.

Despite some Forest Gump likenesses, Adam’s trailer is engaging. It stars Rose Byrne as the girl downstairs, being wooed by an awkward genius with a little bit of autism. It’s not the crippling kind of autism, but the magic kind that makes people more interesting. I’m pretty sure nobody in the real world ever gets that. Adam hits theaters on July 29th.
