The Amazing Spider-Man Website Launches, New Story Details And Images Revealed![]()
Thanks to the trailer that was released last July, the promo art sent out by Columbia Pictures and the new poster and banners released this week, we've actually seen quite a bit from The Amazing Spider-Man. Not set to be released until July 3rd next year, there's been a heavy early campaign to get word about the reboot out there, and we can expect it to continue for the next few months. Why can I say that with total confidence? Because now the movie has a new website to call home base.
Sony has officially launched http://theamazingspiderman.com/, the main homepage for everything related to Marc Webb's new on-screen version of the wallcrawler. While many sites are typically barebones when they are first revealed, the Spider-Man page is already loaded with tons of content, including character bios (for Peter Parker, Gwen Stacy, Captain Stacy, and Curt Conners), a full gallery of stills, info about the cast and filmmakers, the original trailer, and a look into the story, which contains a nice little tidbit: "Like most teenagers his age, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. In his journey to put the pieces of his past together he uncovers a secret that his father held...a secret that wull ultimately shape his destiny as Spider-Man. This is the first in a series of movies that tells a different side of the Peter Parker story. On July 3rd, 2012, the untold story begins." In addition to confirming that the new film will be the first of a brand new series, the details about Peter's father are interesting. There's been a lot of speculation that the new movie will draw more from the Ultimate Spider-Man storyline, which featured Richard Parker, Peter's father, as a brilliant biochemist who worked for S.H.I.E.L.D. Obviously the rights to S.H.I.E.L.D. and its characters belong to Marvel Studios, so it will be interesting to see how they morph that for the new movie. Head on over to to explore it further. |
