While the Prometheus Blu-ray set went up for pre-order on Amazon a week before the movie even opened here in the states, but we still don't have any official word or dates for the much-anticipated release. What we do have, however, is an early glimpse at what bonus features the Prometheus Blu-ray is likely to be packing, as well as a look at the inevitable Prometheus/Alien box set.
The news comes via a French Amazon page for a box set entitled Evolution: From Alien to Prometheus. The nine-disc set will expand on the already excellent Alien Anthology set by throwing Prometheus into the mix. (Sadly, Alien Resurrection will still be included.) The Prometheus portion will include both 2D and 3D versions of the film itself, as well as 15 minutes of deleted scenes, a commentary from director Ridley Scott, and two hours' worth of behind-the-scenes featurettes.
As we said, none of this has been officially announced or finalized for the American market, but it's almost certain that we'll get a Region 1 release along the same lines as the French set. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if an official announcement turns up during the week of Comic-Con, if not at the show itself.
Here are the full specs for the French Evolution set, which is set to be released on October 3rd. It's been translated from French, so we'll have to forgive the occasionally amusing garbled phrasing. I've attempted to clean it up where the features are obviously being ported over from earlier releases. Fingers crossed that we'll be getting a similar announcement for this side of the pond sometime in the coming weeks. I personally would like official rules for a "Drink Every Time Someone Does Something Stupid" drinking game.
