Apatow Producing A New Pee-wee Herman Movie![]()
We as an audience went a long time without the presence of Pee-wee Herman. Huge back in the late 1980s, it all came crashing down when Paul Reubens got caught in an Adult Movie Theater waxing the ol' carrot (not great for an actor who's primary audience is children.) But then, back in 2007, the character made a triumphant return at the Spike Awards and has since started a stage show in Los Angeles. There have been rumors of another movie since (including a strange one with Johnny Depp involved), but now Judd Apatow is trying his hardest to get one moving.
Variety reports that Apatow is in the midst of trying to get a third Pee-wee Herman movie made over at Universal. The script will be written by Reubens and actor Paul Rust. According to the story, the connection between Apatow and Reubens was first made after the Knocked Up director caught the "Pee Wee Herman Show" at LA's Nokia Theater. Could anyone on Earth be disappointed by this news? Even if you don't care for the movies that he makes, Apatow is a producer who gets things done and he's smart enough to allow Reubens to cultivate the script on his own terms. Also, more Pee-wee Herman? Hell yeah! |
