We think of Disney as creating a very different kind of hand-drawn entertainment, but even the venerable Mouse House can't avoid the graphic novel mania taking over Hollywood studios. Disney will adapt Monster Attack Network, a graphic novel with a “Men in Black tone” about a Pacific island populated by monsters. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the adventurers who work there can handle the monsters just fine, but a shady industrialist shows up one day and threatens to ruin everything.
THR also says they're considering this one as a franchise, which makes sense-- the mere words “monster island” immediately conjure a kick-ass theme park attraction, which is really what Disney does best. After all, it's been 15 years since the first Jurassic Park movie, and even if they're considering making a fourth one, it's probably high time for a whole different set of monsters to be afraid of.
