First Trailer For The Halle Berry Starring Frankie & Alice image
Last we heard about the film Frankie & Alice, the film was being set up for a December release date in order to launch a major Oscar campaign that would hopefully land her her first Academy Award since Monster's Ball. With said twelfth month arriving tomorrow, we've wondered when we might actually see a trailer for the film, and that day is today.

Co-starring Stellan Skarsgard and Phylicia Rashad, Berry plays Frankie Murdoch, a woman suffering from Disassociate Identity Disorder, commonly known as multiple personalities. What makes her a special case is that her alternate personality, Alice, is a racist. Check out the trailer below and then head back for my thoughts and reactions.

I must admit that, while somewhat overused in the film and television world, DID has always been a condition that fascinates me and, when done well, can be the basis for a terrific movie. Berry, a terrific actress, may very well be able to pull it off here, much the same way that Sally Field did in the movie Sybil. While a trailer can sometimes be indicative of a film's total quality, though, I must say that I'm still rather undecided about this one. Nothing in the two-and-a-half minute first looks stands out as either horrifically bad or phenomenally good - it all just seems kind of mediocre. Perhaps the full film will be better, but we won't know that until December 17. Until then, for more about Frankie and Alice, head on over to our Blend Film Database.
