Gerard Butler Does His Best John McClane Impression In First Olympus Has Fallen Trailer
If 2011 was the year of the sex buddy comedy (Friends With Benefits, No Strings Attached) and 2012 was the year of alternative Snow White adaptations (Mirror Mirror, Snow White and the Huntsman), then that means 2013 is the year of "Die Hard in the White House" movies. In the coming months we will see the release of both Antoine Fuqua's Olympus Has Fallen and Roland Emmerich's White House Down, two movies where a secret service agent finds himself trapped inside the home of the President of the United States during a terrorist attack. In the last few months both projects battled to get the earliest release date they could - as to make the later movie look like a copy cat - and the winner ended up being Olympus Has Fallen - and that celebration has been capped with the release of the film's first trailer.
The debut preview has arrived in HD over on Apple, or you can watch it below.
And along with the trailer the site also posted the movie's first poster:
Set to arrive in theaters on March 22, 2013, Olympus Has Fallen centers on Mike Banning (Gerard Butler), a former elite member of the President's secret service who leaves his job after a devistating incident. But when Banning finds himself in the White House when it comes under attack, he discovers that he is the only person help the President (Aaron Eckhart) walk away from the situation alive. Morgan Freeman, Dylan McDermott, Ashley Judd, Radha Mitchell, Melissa Leo, Cole Hauser, Rick Yune, Robert Forster and Angela Bassett co-star in the spring blockbuster and you can find out more about the movie in our Blend Film Database.
