Hitman Goes Crazy![]()
Timothy Olyphant is ready to play towards the kitsch. His high cheekbones, willowy frame and fair skin could easily fit in with the Twilight cast, but THR reports that he’s just signed on to play victim to some crazy folk in the remake of George Romero’s The Crazies. Luckily, he’s got a comedic side.
After uber-serious roles in the likes of Live Free or Die Hard, and Stop-Loss, Timothy Olyphant has set himself up as falling perfectly into the ominously creepy category. For those of you who did not see Olyphant’s best performance this year in Meet Bill, you might not be able to picture him playing towards his comedic side in a kitschy remake. But, for those of you who have, seeing Olyphant ham it up while being chased by Crazies sounds like a whole lot of fun. This remake could be the ticket to getting audiences seeing this Hitman in a new light. Maybe I’m crazy for assuming that this re-make will be somewhat humorous, but I think it sounds delectably so. The Crazies involves a water system gone bad, leaving a town full of insane people. As many of George A. Romero’s films are, the original is a social satire as well as a horror film. Depending on which way director, Breck Eisner (Sahara), goes this film could be a scathing take on what happens when biological disaster strikes, or a humorous rendering of a silly-sounding situation. Either way, Olyphant will be there. |
