McAdams Thrilled

Rachel McAdams has really been blazing a trail this year, with great performances in the surprise hit Mean Girls and the underrated, unabashedly romantic flick The Notebook. She’s on her way to being a big thing in Hollywood, so it’s hard to fathom why she’d step down to appear in a cheap thriller for Wes Craven. It’s not like it’ll help her burgeoning career. It might even hurt it.

But that’s the plan, because Rachel has been cast along with Cillian Murphy in the upcoming Craven helmed thriller Red Eye. According to Variety filming starts November 8 in Los Angeles with a targeted late spring release. McAdams has been brushing up on her screening and according to her agent should be ready to dance with the reaper.

The film is about a woman held captive on an airplane by a weird stranger who threatens to kill her father unless she assassinates someone. Her only connection with the world is through a cell phone and she can only make one call. She calls a really handsome young guy and he has to find a way to rescue her without hanging… whoops no, that’s something else.
