The Odd Life Of Timothy Green Will Hit Blu-ray On December 4

With a premise based on the fact a little boy literally pops out of the ground and joins a family, The Odd Life of Timothy Green was never going to be a summer blockbuster. Wowing the audience with visual effects is not really what director Peter Hedges—the guy behind What’s Eating Gilbert Grape and Dan in Real Life--usually goes for, which is totally fine in my book. If you did miss The Odd Life of Timothy Green during its theatrical release, you’ll be able to catch the film when it comes to Blu-ray, DVD, and digital on December 4.

The focused story about the little boy entering the lives of an infertile couple (played by Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton) is rather compelling, even if the audience must buy into a little magic to believe in it. Some audiences did, and The Odd Life of Timothy Green managed to bring in a little over $50 million at the box office, which is a tidy sum for such an oddball film.

The best part of the flick was probably Garner’s performance. The actress is not really one to often take on a mom role, which is why her performance is surprisingly elegant and full of the right level of motherly worries (I guess she is, after all, a mom in real life). Some of the extras with the set look as if they will focus on the family aspect of the film, including the “Family Roots” featurette, which will be available as part of the Blu-ray and digital copies of the film. I’ve seen digital copies with extras before, but interestingly, this is one of the first times I’ve seen a digital set with almost all of the Blu-ray features. You can check out the full list of extras, below.
