Click Here to Buy Movie Posters! As part of what is bound to be part of our last gasp of Star Wars related mega-coverage before the movie opens and the franchise ends so that we can move on to checking out the latest French masterpiece or something, I went searching for some of my favorite Star Wars movie posters. I discovered something: There are a lot of them. Too many. It’s easy to forget the marketing juggernaut that Lucasfilm is, not just with the prequels, but with the original films as well. Because at some point I got sick of trying to upload images and assume that not everyone has unlimited bandwidth, I stop with collection of greats below.

It’s kind of interesting really to look through them and see the way posters have changed. The classics are absolutely beautiful hand painted art, and the new prequel official posters try to mimic that by cramming a bunch of characters on one sheet. But it doesn’t work as well, doesn’t have the artistry. Look at some of those early New Hope posters, with Luke’s over-exaggerated muscles and what the heck is that flaring light coming out of his hands? Lightsabers don’t do that… yet somehow that says more than a million floating Anakin heads.

Below that you’ll find a bunch of Revenge of the Sith character posters. That horrible hunchback Anakin one just to show you how bad a poster can be, followed by all the really great ROTS character posters Lucasfilm has done since. And if you want to load them on your walls, just give a click.
