Rupert Grint And Chloe Moretz Join Aaron Eckhart In The Drummer
Since the Harry Potter franchise finished its run last summer many have been asking the same question: where's Rupert Grint. While Daniel Radcliffe has since come out with The Woman in Black and Emma Watson had a supporting role in My Week With Marilyn and will be appearing in the upcoming adaptation of The Perks of Being A Wallflower, the redhead who played Ron has been fairly absent from the silver screen. Some feared that his absence suggested that he was going to fall to the dreaded child actor curse, but for those biting their finger nails over the situation I have some good news.
Grint, as well as Chloe Moretz, has been added to the cast of The Drummer, the biopic about Beach Boys percussionist Dennis Wilson. The film already has Aaron Eckhart attached to play Wilson while Vera Farmiga will portray Fleetwood Mac keyboardist Christine McVie. The story will be set in the last six years of the musician's life, including the creation of his solo record "Pacific Ocean Blue." Wilson died in 1983 at the age of 39 when he drowned while he was intoxicated.
THR says that Grint will play Stan Shapiro, a mail room intern at William Morris who grew to have a strong relationship with Wilson while Moretz will play the drummer's daughter, Jennifer. The film is being written and directed by Randall Miller and Jody Savin and production is set to get going this June.
With Watson in Marilyn, Radcliffe portraying Allen Ginsberg in the upcoming Kill Your Darlings and Grint in The Drummer, it seems that the Harry Potter kids are really gravitating towards biopics. It will be interesting to see how it works out for them.
