Seth Rogen Reveals Green Hornet Plans![]()
Ever since it was announced Seth Rogen would take on the role, there’s been a lot of curiosity over Green Hornet, the movie that has had everyone associated with it from George Clooney to Kevin Smith. There’s also not been a whole lot of talk, making the movie even more mysterious. Are they planning on doing Green Hornet right, or is the casting of the portly actor just part of a send-up of the picture?
Well, it turns out, the movie could go either way. Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg actually have two outlines of the script lying around, Rogen recently told MTV News. ”There’s a more comedic version and a less comedic version, and we don't know what will feel right until we're actually writing it.” Sadly, it may be a while before they found out, since the outlines were about to become a script when the writer’s strike arrived. Rogen doesn’t just joke around in his interview, however. He offers a few pieces of information to settle concerns about the movie, including a comment on his physical condition. ” "You should believe that I can do some physical activity," Rogen laughed. "You have to believe I can do something” The actor will reportedly be slimming down for the lead role of Britt Reid. Also currently under consideration: who to cast in the key role of Kato, The Green Hornet’s sidekick, once portrayed by Bruce Lee. "I think what's most important about the Kato part is it's someone that you believe can kick the shit out of a lot of people. ['Kung Fu Hustle' star] Steven Chow is incredible. That was someone we had talked about. I'm a big Tony Jaa fan also." As far as the complaints of the Knocked Up star playing a super-hero, Rogen states what may have just become one of my favorite quotes of all time: Nerds love complaining. You go Ain't It Cool News, and everybody complains about everything. They could find out Jesus Christ was making a movie with Frank Miller, and they'd say, 'That's a terrible combination!'" It’s funny because it’s true – almost painfully so. No director has been decided for the film either, but with the writer’s strike underway it could be a while before the script can be finished. Personally, I’m hoping Rogen tries to bring Kevin Smith back into play. The fan-favorite was once attached to write and direct but backed out to work on other things. Those “other things” have ended up being a project with Seth Rogen, so it’s possible the two can shoot the shit about Green Hornet while Rogen films Zach and Miri Make a Porno. Hey, nerds may complain, but we can wish a little bit too, can’t we? |
