Twilight Fan Reportedly Dies After Accident At Comic Con
With the final installment in the feature adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's popular vampire series set to arrive in theaters this fall, it's not surprising to learn that fans are once again eager enough to get into the Twilight panel at Comic Con in San Diego to camp out days in advance. The occasion is likely to be an exciting one for fans sharing their love for the books and films en masse in anticipation of the big panel. Unfortunately, things took a tragic turn for one SDCC attendee who has reportedly died due to injuries sustained when she was struck by a car near Hall H at the convention center this week.
The Examiner shared the story, stating that a source at Twilight Poison said the female Twilight fan was crossing the street near Hall H when a vehicle hit her.
"From the moment she was hit to when the ambulance arrived and took her, she was completely unconscious. I don't know if it's super serious but it might be if she was knocked off her feet and left unconscious! ... Everybody is pretty shaken up about it."
Digital Spy has verified the incident, stating:
Police confirmed that there was an incident on Harbor Drive at 9.20am on Tuesday (July 10). Officials stated that a 53-year-old woman in town for the convention tried to run across the street, but tripped into an oncoming Subaru.
The Examiner has since updated their story to state that the woman died of her injuries, citing a Tweet from the deceased's friend.
If there are two things Twilight fans have in common with so many other Comic Con visitors, it's passion and dedication, as demonstrated by the line outside Hall H. This is truly an unfortunate accident for one fan. Our thoughts go out to her family.
