Watch The Logan Super Bowl Trailer Right Now

The time is almost upon us, folks. After 17 years of playing Wolverine, Hugh Jackman will hang up the claws next month in Logan. The two trailers released so far indicate that the third Wolverine spinoff will be an emotional and especially intense conclusion to Jackman's tenure as the popular mutant hero, not to mention one of the more unique-looking superhero movies. Even though there was already enough to chew on until Logan's release, 20th Century Fox wisely acquired Super Bowl ad time today and has released an exciting TV spot for the highly-anticipated blockbuster. Check it out!

The Logan marketing team has done a top-notch job so far with picking outside-the-box music to play. The teaser used Johnny Cash's chilling iconic cover of "Hurt," last month's trailer used "Way Down We Go" from Kaleo and today's Super Bowl TV spot used a chilling version of "Amazing Grace." There isn't much in the way of plot revelations in this preview, but it more than makes up for that with action. Some of the highlights include Donald Pierce behind a machine gun, the young Laura unleashing her berserker-like fury and Wolverine continuing to be the best at what he does, which isn't very nice.

Caliban

There are two quick shots, however, that are particularly intriguing. The first is Laura running through the woods with other children around the same age. What are they fleeing from, and how are these other children connected to Laura? The second is Caliban (seen above) in a cramped room activating two grenades. Other than the fact that he'll be helping Wolverine take care of the ailing Professor X, there's little we know about Caliban's involvement in Logan, so seeing him in what looks like a prison getting ready to blow up something has us most perplexed.

Taking place in the year 2029, when the X-Men have disbanded and the mutant population has shrunk, Logan will follow Wolverine as he protects a young girl very much like him from being captured by the forces of Transigen. The main cast includes Hugh Jackman as the eponymous protagonist, Patrick Stewart as Professor Charles Xavier, Dafne Keen as Laura (a.k.a. X-23), Boyd Holbrook as Donald Pierce, Richard E. Grant as Zander Rice, Doris Morgardo as Maria and Stephen Merchant as Caliban. Eriq La Salle, Elise Neal and Elizabeth Rodriguez have also been cast in undisclosed roles.

Logan slashes its way into theaters on March 3. Let us know what you thought of the Super Bowl TV spot in the comments below.
