Margot Robbie is hard at work making a movie about one of the most famous, and infamous, figure skaters of all-time. However, you can't make a movie about Tonya Harding without including her rival Nancy Kerrigan. It's not too shocking that the Harding camp isn't involved in the production, but what about the other side? It wouldn't be surprising if the producers behind I, Tonya wanted to work with somebody who had first had knowledge of the events, but instead, it appears that Kerrigan and her people are being actively rebuffed.

Gossip site TMZ has video of a photographer asking Nancy Kerrigan how she feels about the upcoming movie I, Tonya. The former Olympic medalist responded by saying she "had nothing to do with that" and wasn't consulted in any way. What's more, TMZ is reporting (grain of salt on this one) that Kerrigan had people reach out to attempt to get an early copy of the script, so that they could see how Kerrigan would be portrayed in the film, but apparently, that did not happen.

The story of what went down between the two top tier figure skaters is the sort of thing one would expect to see in a movie. In 1994 during a practice session prior to the U.S. Figure Skating Championships, Nancy Kerrigan was attacked by somebody attempting to break her leg. While she was unable to compete in the U.S. Championship, she was selected for the Olympics anyway and went on to win a silver medal. Eventually, it was uncovered that the attack was orchestrated by Tonya Harding's ex-husband and bodyguard. While Harding was not directly involved, one investigation found that she was aware of the plan, and did nothing to stop it. Needless to say, the media had a field day.

Caitlin Carver is the actress who has been tapped to play Nancy Kerrigan in I, Tonya, she will co-star alongside Margot Robbie as Tonya Harding. At this point, we have no idea how either person will be portrayed. Based on the title, the focus of the film is clearly on Harding, and while Kerrigan's part in the story is vital, it doesn't necessarily mean the part is large. Harding could be looked at sympathetically or it could be quite the opposite.

Nancy Kerrigan is puttering herself back in the spotlight as well as she was recently announced as one of the contestants for the new season of Dancing with the Stars.

Nancy Kerrigan says she won't even be seeing I, Tonya. We can't say we blame her. Between the horrific attack and the media firestorm that followed, it's not exactly the sort of thing most would want to relive. But will you be seeing I, Tonya The film is currently scheduled for an unspecified 2018 release.
