The Insane Amount Of Money Scarlett Johansson Might Be Making For The Black Widow Movie

Black Widow in Infinity War

We're coming up on a very exciting time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Following Ryan Coogler's Black Panther, the entire starring cast of the shared universe will be united for Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4. The Russo Brothes have the task of juggling all of the storylines, especially as certain actor's contracts come to an end with the studio. Luckily, it appears that Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow isn't going anywhere anytime soon, as a solo movie for the fan favorite character is finally in the early stages of development. And early reports indicate she's going to make bank on the potential project.

Scarlett Johansson has consistently been named among the highest grossing actors in Hollywood, thanks to her work on the Marvel Cinematic Universe and smaller passion projects. She'll definitely hold onto that title if the Black Widow movie actually happens, as early rumors claim that she may be asking for a whopping $25 million to star in her own Marvel project. Considering how many movies she's already appeared in, she definitely deserves it.

Of course, The Daily Mail's report about Scarlett Johansson's possible new deal with Marvel is far from official, and should be treated as speculation. The film is still in the earliest stages of development, and could not end up actually happening.

That being said, fans have been asking for a Black Widow movie basically since the character debuted back in Iron Man 2. Most of the members of the original Avengers got their own solo movies, and plenty of more characters have been introduced and given franchises of their own. And while Black Widow has appeared in the last two Captain America movies, she hasn't been given a chance to lead a film, and therefore allow audiences to get to know the complex character a little better.

Finally giving Scarlett Johansson a Marvel movie of her own is a great way to incentivize her continued involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Because she's no longer contractually obligated to appear in more films, Marvel Studios is going to have to hustle to keep some of its starring actors on board. That seems to be exactly what happened with Thor: Ragnarok. The threequel was unlike anything else from the franchise, and allowed Chris Hemsworth to explore new places with the character he'd played for nearly a decade. It wouldn't be surprising if he made a new deal to appear in Thor 4, especially if the studio manages to get director Taika Waititi to return as well.

Now Marvel fans must sit and wait for news from the studio about the next phase of films. The future after Avengers 4 is a big mystery, besides the fact that Spider-Man: Homecoming's sequel and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be on the way. Hopefully Marvel can get the Black Widow movie deal in writing, and delight fans with an official announcement soon.

Scarlett Johansson's next adventure in the MCU will be Avengers: Infinity War on May 4th, 2018. In the meantime, check out our 2018 release list to plan your trips to the movie this year.
