Another Watchmen Alum Will Appear In Batman V Superman

Casting around Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice is still a bit of a mystery. While the main players and members of the upcoming Justice League have been announced for months, there are still a few cast members, including Jena Malone, who have unspecified roles. Now it appears that one of Zack Snyder’s standby actors will be making an unorthodox appearance in the upcoming superhero romp Dawn Of Justice.

ComicBook.com is reporting that Watchmen alumnus Carla Gugino will most likely be lending her voice as Superman’s Kryptonian computer in the Fortress Of Solitude. This is a reprisal role as Gugino had the same uncredited role in Zack Snyder’s Man Of Steel. Since Zack Snyder has a tendency to work with the same actors over and over again, this is an exciting, albeit not quite surprising, development.

Carla Gugino was recently doing a twitter Q & A with fans, when one of her fans lamented that Gugino wouldn’t be appearing in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. Her response, below, seems to confirm her appearance.

I’d say this is a pretty concrete confirmation of Carla Gugino’s role in Dawn Of Justice. Since she has already lent her voice to the DC Extended Universe, it’s unlikely that she’ll be participating in any other type of role in the film.

Since Carla Gugino is a rather suburb actress, this role seems like it isn’t the proper use of her work. Of course, appearing in a huge project like Dawn Of Justice is always an exciting opportunity. And who knows? The MCU saw Paul Bettany make his live-action appearance in The Avengers: Age of Ultron after voicing Tony Stark’s J.A.R.V.I.S. system for all three Iron Man movies as well as the first Avengers outing. While J.A.R.V.I.S. is surely a larger voice acting performance than Gugino’s cameo, things could always expand as the Justice League is formed and fleshed out in DCEU future films.

Carla Gugino is perhaps best known for her role in Zack Snyder’s epic films Watchmen and Sucker Punch. In Watchmen she played the deeply flawed Sally Jupiter. An original member of the Minutemen, we originally saw Sally young and vulnerable, as well as eventually older and hardened by the world. It was truly one of the largest character arcs in Watchmen, especially considering that she wasn’t necessarily in the main cast of the film. While Sucker Punch wasn’t particularly well received, Gugino gave an emotionally raw performance as Dr. Vera Gorski.

I’m excited that Batman V Superman will contain another Watchmen alum, alongside Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s role as Thomas Wayne. Even if we only hear Carla Gugino for a moment, there’s something special about a reunion between the players who made such an awesome comic book adaptation.

Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice will fly into theaters March 25th.
