I have been pretty fortunate in my life to be incredibly driven to do even the most boring stuff on time. I remember in college passing my friends who looked like they stepped out of an episode of The Walking Dead from pulling all nighters because of their crappy time management skills. I can safely say I never stayed up all night to study or finish a project because I'm a responsible “adult.” Some people turn to medications to help give them focus and help them get work done, and many need it, but what should be done about those who use the drugs without needing them to boost their scores?
Two graduates of a prestigious school are under investigation for allegedly leading a drug ring. Neil Scott, 25, and Timothy Brooks, 18, are accused of running a drug ring that involved five local high schools, several pounds of marijuana, and the affluent Philadelphia suburbs. Both men are graduates of the Haverford prep school, which costs 35,000 dollars a year to attend.
When we think of leaked celebrity pictures or videos, the first ones that come to mind are always those involving nudity. From sex tapes to nipple slips to raunchy photosets sent to boyfriends, showing a little skin always generates press. That being said, there are other types of photographs one doesn’t want to get out either, ones that are far worse than a shot of a celeb picking his or her nose.
Let’s face it. Crack isn’t exactly the Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons of drugs. The majority of addicts try it because they’re looking for a really cheap way to get high, but now and again, people with boatloads of money go down that path too. Given how insanely addictive it can be, that’s not a huge shock. What is shocking, however, is the amount of money Lamar Odom was apparently dropping
Albert Hammond, Jr., the Strokes' guitarist and solo artist extraordinaire, recently revealed that he wasn’t just a garden variety drug addict back in the day—he was a fucking drug addict. In a new interview, the 33-year-old talks music as well as the extent of his drug use in his twenties.
Organizers of the Electric Zoo Festival aren’t stupid. They might not admit so publically, but they no damn good and well a high percentage of their audience is under the influence of drugs during the performances. As such, places to get water and areas where one can see a doctor are littered throughout the site. In theory, one would have thought those stations would prevent tragedies, but they clearly weren’t enough.
It seems that Miley Cyrus is finally ready to come out and proclaim she’s no longer the angel she used to be. From the aggressive haircut to the suggestions that the singer has become on avid pot smoker, fans have known the 20-year-old star is not the same girl who appeared on the Disney Channel just a few short years ago. Smoking pot on her own time is one thing, but on Monday, she finally admitted her new single “We Can’t Stop” includes a reference to ecstasy. May the radio edits abound.
Philip Seymour Hoffman’s more than twenty year streak of sobriery reportedly ended a little more than a year ago, and in the time since, the Academy Award winning actor has reportedly been inching closer and closer to a full-on downward spiral. The substance abuse issue reportedly started with prescription pills but wound up escalating to the point in which he spent about a week earlier this month snorting heroin.
Whenever a star dies young, it's not hard to jump to the conclusion that - or at least wonder if - it was drug related. Unfortunately, that seems to be one of the more common causes of death among younger celebrities. When reports surfaced that Kris Kross rapper Chris Kelly had died at the age of 34, there was no cause of death mentioned, however today comes word of some recent drug-related activity that may have played a factor in the musician's death yesterday.
Professional sports leagues may have collectively turned their heads and feigned ignorance during baseball’s famous steroid-induced homerun boom in the last 90s and early 00s, but the culture has changed a lot in the past decade. A concerted effort has been made by many sports to weed out cheaters, and unfortunately, the NBA’s drug policy, which was once considered impressive, has begun to lag. That may change next year, however, with the possible addition of human growth hormone testing.
Over the years, the cast members of Jersey Shore had quite a few brushes with the law during their time on the air. From fighting to dancing in the middle of traffic, they were no strangers to drunken shenanigans, but in the matter of just a few months, their replacements on Buckwild have already one-upped them thanks to an extremely serious drug arrest.
I don’t think there’s a single drug in the world that scares me more than bath salts. The idea of putting an unknown combination of substances into my body is terrifying, and coupled with all of the news reports about crazy and paranoid behavior, I can see no reason why I would ever ingest bath salts. If I needed a reminder of why, however, I got it this morning when I came across a US Navy Medical video about the dangers of the drug.
Black Widow Griselda Blanco, arguably the most important figure in the late 70s, early 80s Miami drug trade, was gunned down outside a butcher shop in Colombia yesterday by two assassins on motorcycles. Whether a coincidence or well-thought out middle finger, the method will go down as a fitting end for the woman widely credited with inventing the drive by motorcycle assassination.
Elton John might be considered a generous man with a big heart these days, but in the early 1980s, he was anything but caring and loving. At least that’s the beloved singer’s take on himself. In a lengthy interview with Today’s Matt Lauer, airing this week on NBC, John speaks candidly and openly about spending the early years of the AIDS epidemic absorbed in his own world of addiction and selfishness.
Lovato, 19, spent three months in late 2010 in rehab working on some troublesome body issues. What followed was a time period where the only thing fans heard about the pop star was a rumored weight gain. There was a lot of waiting and wondering whether Lovato would return to what she did best, but after Unbroken was released and did fairly well, the young star seems back on track.
