Allen Iverson's Ex Wants Him Jailed For Not Paying Child Support

Back in February, former NBA MVP Allen Iverson was ordered by a judge to pay his ex-wife, Tawanna, eight thousand dollars a month in child support. If the disgruntled former spouse is to be believed, however, A.I. hasn’t paid a single dime since they left court months ago, and she’s none too pleased about it.

According to TMZ, Tawanna and Allen are due in court this week for a progress update. While there, the mother would reportedly like the judge to not only order her ex-husband to pay the $40,000 debt he’s accrued but also be sent to jail for his reckless disregard for both the court order and his children’s wellbeing. Right now, the whole jail element to her request seems a little far-fetched, but it’s certainly not out of the question given he allegedly hasn’t put any effort into paying.

Child support battles are major issues for many former couples/ spouses, but it’s especially a problem for many athletes and former athletes. With huge amounts of money streaming in for a short amount of time, players are often hit with child support bills, and if they don’t save properly, it can become very difficult to keep up with those agreements. That’s why some players choose to go with large lump sum payments rather than smaller, long-term arrangements.

Here’s to hoping Iverson figures out a way to take care of his bills and his family in the process.
